Carbon Power & Light member-owners now have access to seamless service on both sides of the meter through an agreement between the cooperative, Kalcon Services of Laramie and Prairie Dog Electric of Saratoga.

The cooperative entered into the partnership to ensure that CPL member-owners would have access to qualified electrical contractors for residential and commercial electrical needs "beyond the metering point." Kalcon Services will respond to calls in Albany County and Prairie Dog Electric will cover Carbon County.

The partnership agreement covers work done within CPL boundaries. Members who do not desire to participate in this program are still free to use electricians of their choosing.

Some of the features included in Carbon’s electrical contractor services are listed below:

Fast response—For normal, non-emergency, electrical service requests, CPL members will be contacted by the contractor within two working days (after member leaves message with contractor CPL) to discuss proposed work. Work will be started within two weeks unless both parties agree to an alternate schedule.

The response time for emergency situations will be four hours or less, unless inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances arise.

Free estimates—CPL electrical contractors will provide free estimates, If the proposed work will exceed $1,000 a written estimate will be provided before starting the work.

Seamless billing—Members who utilize the services of a contract electrician will be invoiced directly by CPL.

Peace of mind—CPL’s electrical contractors are licensed and insured and will complete all work in accordance with the National Electric Safety Code and all other local, state and federal requirements. CPL contractors receive specialized training on installation and servicing procedures for products (such as storage heaters) offered by CPL.
