  CP&L/Tri-State Energy Efficiency Credit Program

ELECTRIC WATER HEATER REBATE
(Go to next section for CPL Marathon rebates)

For all CPL members who install or replace electric water heaters that meet minimum Tri-State and CP&L specifications.

CP&L member gets a $50.00 check from Tri-State G&T plus a choice of one of the following options.

OPTIONS:

Eligible customers may choose a credit on their CP&L utility bill based on $1.50 per gallon of capacity of the new water heater ($75 maximum credit).

OTHER CONDITIONS:

Water heater must be installed on member’s home in CP&L service area.

CP&L rebates are limited to one every 5 years at each location.

MUST BE A CP&L MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Effective Date: April 1, 2003. This offer supersedes all other water heater promotions. Carbon Power & Light reserves the right to cancel this promotion at any time without notice.

Credit must be requested within 180 days of new water heater installation.

Applies to new installation or new replacements only.

Conservation Credits are available to all customer classes of Carbon Power & Light, Inc.

Pre-inspection of existing units before they are removed may be required.

Inspection of new or replacement unit is required.

Proof of purchase of new unit is required (copy of invoice/receipt is acceptable).

CP&L reserves the right to take possession of old water heater.

Inspection and Qualification Report signed by authorized employee, CP&L Manager and customer. An account number, customers social security number or taxpayer ID must be included.

EFFICIENCY STANDARD REQUIRED:

Efficiency (insulation) standard is set at R-16 manufacturer insulation or equivalent. Required insulation shall be verified by authorized CP&L employee and noted on the Inspection and Qualification Report.

CP&L member gets a $50.00 check from Tri-State G&T plus a choice of one of the following options.

Eligible customers may choose a credit on their CP&L utility bill based on $3 per gallon of capacity of the new water heater.

OTHER CONDITIONS:

Water heater must be installed on member’s home in CP&L service area.

CP&L rebates are limited to one every 5 years at each location.

OTHER CONDITIONS:

Water heater must be installed on member’s home in CP&L service area.

Electric Heat Rebates

General Information:

bulletMinimum qualifying load is 1KW.
bulletAny member may choose to participate.
bulletApplies only to permanent heating installations (no plug in heaters).
bulletCredit must be requested within 180 days of installation.
bulletNo other Tri-State energy efficiency credit or special rate/discount shall apply.
bulletAn Inspection and Qualification Report signed by the customer and member manager is required. An account number and consumer social security or taxpayer ID number must be included.
bulletResistance heat credit applies only to new installations. Heat pump and ETS credits apply to new and replacement installations.
bulletCredits are available to all end-use customer classes.
bulletEnergy audit must be attached. Member system may use the Tri-State audit form, as modified to include efficiency standards, or may substitute a more comprehensive audit with the approval of Tri-State.

Efficiency Insulation Standards:

bulletEfficiency (insulation) standards set at the sum of "R" values for ceiling plus walls: Existing home = 30, New home = 49 .
bulletEfficiency standards apply only to the space being heated by the unit qualifying for the payment.
bulletEfficiency standards are applicable to all heating types: resistive, heat pumps, and ETS.
bulletRequired insulation shall be verified by CP&L through visual inspection and noted on the Inspection and Qualification Report.

 

Electric Heat Payments:

bulletResistive heat: $8 per kW, no maximum.
bulletElectric Thermal Storage (ETS): Greater of $50 per unit or $12 per kW, no maximum.
bulletHeat pumps, central, air-source with electric resistance backup: $125 per ton of heating capacity, no maximum.
bulletHeat pumps, central, air-source with ETS or non-electric backup: $150 per ton of heating capacity, no maximum.
bulletHeat pumps, ground source or water source: $150 per ton of heating capacity, no maximum.
bulletHeat pump credits are limited to per ton payment, no payment is made for electric or resistance backup.
bulletTerminal Unit: $85; 12,000 BTU per hour minimum capacity.

Electric Motor Rebates

General Information:

bulletAny member may participate after a copy of a Board of Directors’ Resolution authorizing participation is forwarded to Tri-State.
bulletA Certificate of Inspection and Qualification and, if applicable, Verification of Motor Taken from Stock form signed by the consumer and member is required. An account number and consumer social security number or taxpayer ID number must be included.
bulletInvoice or bill of sale is required unless motor taken from customer’s stock.
bulletEnergy efficiency credit must be requested within 180 days of installation.
bulletMotors taken from customer’s stock qualify as follows:
  • Applies to the installation of a new or used motor from 10 hp to 200 hp, which is to operate at a minimum of 15% load factor or for a minimum of 3 months each year. Motors less than 10 hp qualify if the aggregate for a single unit which requires all motors to operate is at least 10 hp.
  • Payments for motors larger than 200 hp may be negotiated.
  • Energy efficiency credits are available to all end-use customer classes.
  • No other Tri-State energy efficiency credit or special rate/discount shall apply.
  • Motor energy efficiency credits are conditional on CP&L paying an additional credit. See the Standards and Payments section below.
  • Down-sized motors qualify for the full credit.

* Note *  A Tri-State wiring assistance payment of $1.50 per hp is added to the basic payment if the motor replaces a fossil-fueled engine, or if it is a new installation.
